Digestive Diseases Photo ATLAS

Gastroenterology is the study of the Digestive system (Esophagus, Stomach, small intestine, Large intestine or colon, liver, pancreas, bile ducts and gallbladder). Gastroenterologists are trained for 3 years in the subspecialty after the 4 years of medical school and 3 years of Internal Medicine residency.

The advancement in technology has given us the ability to look inside the digestive system and study its structure and function. The tests we use include Endoscopy (the lighted tube through the mouth, colonoscopy (lighted tube through the rectum) and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) to study the bile ducts and pancreas.

With the advent of Digital photography we are no able to show you things inside your body that could never be recorded with such clarity. We at NVGC hope you enjoy and learn from this photographic atlas.
